Kate is a real gem. We had our arrangements made for a week long sit and got 3 days into it when COVID-19 changed the plans. All Canadians were told to return to their homes. I was only able to give her a few hours notice of my return. Kate was so understanding and helpful. She’s the best! I don’t hesitate to recommend Kate for pet/house sitting. Anyone who is able to secure her for their sitter will be very pleased. BTW, Lexy and Ben were very disappointed to see Kate leave after such a short time!

Kate was a wonderfully accommodating sitter. She made a visit well before our sit date to meet Lexy, Ben and me. Then she came the day before starting the sit to go over details and we also took Lexy for a walk together. Throughout my time away she was great at keeping in touch and keeping me informed. What can I say? If we were able to describe a perfect sitter for our Golden, Riley and our house, we wouldn’t come up with someone as great as Kate. When we let Riley out of her crate the first morning that we were home she headed up the stairs and instead of turning right, into our bedroom to say good morning to me, she turned to the left to check the bedroom where Kate had been staying. This is the second time we have been lucky enough to have Kate care for our dogs. We have an 85 pound Lab puppy and an 8 pound Havanese. It takes talent and knowledge to care for the two of them together, and without a doubt Kate has both. Kate did a weekend sit for us – the dogs came with us, so she was in charge of our two lovely cats. Kate was professional, communicative, and lovely to meet with. She had no problem administering medications to one of our cats 4 times a day. Her lap was always full of a purring kitty and we loved the funny photos she sent us…including the one of the “mouse offering” our hunter brought to her. We hope to host her again.

There aren’t enough positive adjectives around to describe Kate! We were away for 3 months on a trip to New Zealand. It’s a long time to be away and we have a cat whom we are very fond of. Kate is so capable that we were able to enjoy a very worry-free trip. We were away during a very cold and wintery winter. Kate managed to take all of that in her stride. She’s incredibly capable, communicative, resilient and gave our cat all the loving she needed. We came home to a spotlessly clean house and real hospitality. We would recommend “Cat-sitter/House-sitter Extraordinaire Kate” whole heartedly. This lady is a gem. 5 stars aren’t even enough! Thank you Kate!!

Kate sat for us the week prior to Christmas. She was an excellent and caring sitter for Mr. Boots and managed his eccentricities/idiosyncrasies extremely well. She was not shy to ask questions or provide updates which was much appreciated. Our home was left spotless and Mr. Boots was his “ole self” when we returned. I would highly recommend Kate for a home/pet sit and wouldn’t hesitate to have her back.

Kate was amazing! Even my kids loved her. Our two French bulldogs were calm and happy when we arrived home and she sent us updates as we travelled. She even baked us bread and cookies along with homemade soup when we returned!

Kate was an exceptional sitter, both house and pet. If possible, our dog was even MORE well behaved on our return than we left her (and that’s saying something)! And the same goes for the house- it was absolutely sparkling clean. What a joy to come home to. You can tell Kate takes pride in her house and care of animals. She even got up at the crack of dawn to see us off and ease our minds about leaving our fur-child. Talk about above and beyond…. I cannot recommend Kate highly enough. She is warm, caring, mature, confident, capable, and had a great deal of time and energy for our pets. She stayed connected with us every day with texts and photos/video clips of our fur babies and the house was immaculately clean when we returned home. We came home to happy and relaxed pets who appeared not have to noticed that we’d been gone for a week! Thank you Kate … Matt and I hope you’ll come back soon.

Kate did a fantastic job looking after our house and animals for 2 weeks in 2017 so we were really delighted when she was able to come back in October this year for a repeat performance, from the 26th October to the 11th November. She was equally brilliant and for an added challenge she had to deal with a broken down car (ours) and ended up having to drive our Volkswagen van, which she took in her stride. The animals were blissfully happy with her, as was the house, and as before, we have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending Kate for your house/animal sit. Once again, thank you Kate.

Well, what can I say ? This is the third time she has looked after our gang and she will continue to be our ‘go to’ sitter. We were away for almost a month altogether, with a visit home in between.
It is always great to know that when we return the animals are well looked after and the dogs are ready for a rest !!! Having been walked thoroughly !
Thanks once again Kate and hopefully you can return in the future, as we will seriously consider not holidaying if you can’t sit.

I am more than happy to provide Kate with a reference and I must state that the reference couldn’t be any higher than our regard for Kate and how she cares for our special girl, Emmy, and our home. We have been fortunate to have Kate in our home and garden on several occasions and on each occasion she has cared for Emmy nearly as well as we care for her! There are always long walks daily with lots of opportunity to meet canine friends. The house is always immaculate when we come home with linens washed and folded, so nothing for us to do at all. Many times Kate has made salads for us which are always welcomed but not expected. If you are able to book Kate, then feel grateful that she can spare you the time

We had just planted a new garden and put down sod, so on top of caring for our senior dog she took on watering duties as well. This was, without a doubt, the best scenario I could have hoped for. Kate is a kind, warm, and caring individual. As it was the first time I’ve used Trusted Housesitters I was hesitant, but she helped guide me through the process, was flexible in meeting us, and exuded competence from the moment I met her. While we were away she cared for both our home and our 6 year old small breed dog. She had read the welcome package I had sent thoroughly, because she knew what to do when our dog did start to make choking noises! We arrived home to a healthy, well cared-for pet, some baking on the counter, and a spotless home. I can’t say enough about Kate’s demeanor… she is full of calm and peace… really a lovely individual. I’m hopeful we will meet again in the future.

Kate recently took care of our senior dog for 10 days and we are completely happy with what was our first TrustedHousesitters experience. Kate was easy to communicate with, was happy to meet with us prior to our departure, sent us daily reports and welcomed us back home with a pot of homemade soup on the stove and a clean house. We were able to relax and enjoy our vacation because of Kate’s obvious love for animals and perhaps even more important, her independent nature. I felt that should a crisis arise with either the dog or the house, Kate would be able to handle it without a lot of drama. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kate as a home and pet sitter; we have already booked her for another sit ourselves!

As first time users of TrustedHousitters we were slightly skeptical about leaving our kitty and our belongings in the hands of a stranger, but Kate put our minds at ease. Kate looked after our house and pets (2 cats, 2 hamsters) while we were outta country on a short holiday. We got to know Kate in person a couple of weeks before we entrusted her with our pets and all of us were immediately convinced that we made the right choice. Kate was more than wonderful and perfect she came a couple of days before I left and we got to spend some time together. She is nice, friendly and fun to talk to. As soon as I saw her smile and how she was with me, I know I chose the right person.

While I was away, she sent me pictures Of my cats and non stop reports telling me how they were comfortable and happy with Kate. My cat are 18 years old so I’m always worried and concerned about them when I leave on holiday I even feel guilty. Kate made it so comfortable and provided a big relief for me.

That’s not all!

When I returned to my apartment, I was so surprised. She cleaned my entire apartment, not only beddings but also floor, sink, kitchen, and even windows that I never got to clean since I moved in here.

She is very thoughtful, kind and giving person. She is a miracle to me and my cats!!!!

Kate has now been to our home three times to sit with our Shih Tzu’s, Lacy & Coco and we are already talking about securing her for the next holiday season!

Kate is very kind and caring toward our girls and her special brand of calm is perfectly suited to them. One of our girls has some issues with anxiety and Kate went the extra mile to ensure that Coco got the extra attention she needed, but I also know that Lacy was not left out in the process.

She is very social with the other dog families in the neighborhood, some of whom still ask after her! She keeps us updated with photos and information and we always feel comforted that our girls are cared for and safe.

Kate has a wonderful sense of adventure and is very adaptable to new environments. She is capable, smart, rational and trustworthy and not only takes great care of your pets, but also your home. Our apartment was completely spotless when we returned!

I loved Kate from her very first email of introducing herself and applying to sit Suki! I just ‘knew’ she was a gem.

One of the things I enjoyed about Kate is that she kept me informed every step of the way — from her stay in Europe to landing on Vancouver island. She is very, very personable and certainly could have spent much more time conversing had I not had a schedule to meet.

What was best, though, is that she bonded beautifully and loved Suki to bits. I really appreciated being sent pictures – AND a short video of her purring! Such gestures put a nice smile on my face, warmed my insides, and reassured me that all was well taken care of. Thanks, Kate.

We left our dog, our bird, our car and our house in Kate’s hands. When we returned a few days later, it was as though we’d been gone only a few minutes. Kate paid loads of attention to the animals, taking our large dog on cool walks (and sending us photos regularly). She was also able to visit the surrounding area by bike — farmers’ markets and other points of interest.

And the house was spotless!

We will absolutely ask her back! And if our pets could talk, they would demand it!

Nous avons laissé à Kate notre chien, notre oiseau, notre voiture et notre maison pendant quelques jours, et à notre retour c’était comme si nous étions partis que quelques instants. Pendant ce temps, elle a pris grand soin de notre toutou, lui faisant des balades cools (en nous envoyant les photos régulièrement). Aussi, Kate a pu visiter les environs à vélo, découvrant les marchés des fermiers et d’autres points d’intérêt.

Sans question nous allons lui demander de revenir ! Et si nos animaux domestiques pourraient parler, ils l’exigeraient !

This is the second time Kate has sat for us, and for a time there was a possibility she couldn’t come, we were prepared to cancel our holiday !!!

Instead we went on holiday, safe in the knowledge that our menagerie was going to be well cared for, despite the complexities of our ‘gang’

Kate came straight from Canada to look after our dog, our cat, our fish and our home. We had arranged for an extra couple of days before we left for everyone to get used to each other.

I am delighted to be able to share my thoughts about Kate. She has become our most trusted and loved pet-sitter here on Pender Island. Our dog Lewis is old and has some disabilities requiring medication which Kate handled easily and confidently. Kate has a lovely calm and gentle manner with animals and there seems to be a nice respectful bond between them.

She made the effort to keep us updated about how things were going which always makes for a relaxed holiday for me, and Lewis is always calm and happy upon our return.

What can I say Kate was wonderful:-). In the time between booking Kate and us leaving Ruby injured her paw and got got bit by another dog. It was a terrible week and we were conscerned about leaving her. Kate stayed with us the night before we left and in the morning we confidently left Ruby in Kate’s very capable hands and it was a great experience for all of us.

Kate us updated and contacted us when Ruby wasn’t feeling well from the medication, Kate dealt with it calmly and efficiently and truly wanted to do what was best for Ruby.

We returned home to a happy and healthy dog, our garden looking great and a clean house complete with clean sheets and towels.

I would not hesitate to recommend Kate and wish her all the best on her travels.

Kate was an excellent house and cat-sitter for us. We appreciated that she came out and saw us and met Pippin a few days before the house-sit and really showed an interest in getting to know him and making sure that she knew what his needs were. She also patiently helped orient us to the THS experience (it was our first time).

When we came home from our camping trip, Pippin was acting like we’d never been gone, which is the highest form of praise our cat can give a cat-sitter! Beyond impressed with Kate! Kate cared for our Shitzu Yorkie and Guinea Pig during our week long trip to Mexico. Given this was our first time using this site and with a trusted house sitter, she was great with guiding me through the process, gently reminding me to complete the home owners guide etc.

She phoned me to let me know when she had arrived to my home. My dog Nikko is shy and Kate intuitively made herself at home, settled in and waited for him to come to her. She texted me two other times to update me, and shared pics of Nikko exploring his favourite spots in Victoria.

When we arrived back home, my husband and I were overwhelmed, our house was hotel spotless, fresh towels put out, beds washed, homemade quinoa salad in the fridge, she even cleaned our oven. What a treat to come home to!! Kate is incredibly conscientious, trustworthy, and thoughtful.

Kate will most definitely be our go to house sitter for our next trip away!

Kate came to stay with our sweet Shih Tzus, Lacy & Coco, over the Christmas holiday in Tokyo. Kate was the first respondent to our inquiry and we loved her reviews and recommendations on trustedhoursitters.com. As luck would have it, she was scheduled to be in Japan during the time we needed help.

We met her over Facebook and signed right up! Kate is very easygoing, good-natured and was incredibly respectful of us, our home and, most importantly, our girls! She took the time to learn about them individually, as they are both quite different and she was so kind to them which, to us, is all that mattered. She provided us with updates and photos every day while we were gone and it made us happy to know they were in such good hands. She was also on top of all the logistics which, in Tokyo, are very complicated.

Kate is very openminded, adventurous, intelligent and nice. Our home was spotless when we returned and the girls were happy. I have already asked her to come back and will continue to do so in the future!

Kate helped us out by taking care of our elderly cat Snowy, while we were away for a little vacation. We found Kate to be a very easy going, but responsible, caring individual. Snowy was given a great deal of love and attention while we were gone. Kate took care of giving Snowy her medications twice daily, along with all the other pet care responsibilities.

When we arrived home we found our home was neat and tidy and well cared for as well. There was even a delicious pot of home made soup waiting for us, which went down really well since we arrived back on a very cold wintery day. It was a delight to meet Kate and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have had Kate looking after things while we were away.

Kate is the house/animal sitters everybody would dream of having…
Upon arrival she was very friendly and professional in approach and totally keen to soak in as much information as possible before we left for our trip. On our return I was overwhelmed how my house was cleaner than when we left!. She has also prepared a hot soup for us when we got home.

The cat was very happy and relaxed and had obviously had plenty of attention.

Kate is a gem. I did not have any concerns about my house or dog while I was away, and that is very important when one is busy at a work conference. She exercised my dog, played with him and groomed him. She left my home clean and organized and didn’t leave a “footprint” nor consume any of my things.

She is very self-sufficient without requiring any hand-holding. She even taught me a few things about Paris and my surroundings. She will come back and take care of my dog another time soon!

Kate was the perfect house-sitter and companion to your 10 month old French bulldog. Nothing was too much trouble for Kate, she gladly arranged to meet us the day before to get to know our puppy and to take him for a walk. She was friendly, warm and we completely trusted her with our apartment and baby.

She did an excellent job in all respects: kind but firm with the animals who all adored her and keeping the place looking immaculate. Kate came to look after my home and pets on the coldest day of the year.

She brought the sunshine with her and we had a very pleasant evening together before we left for our trip. It did not take long for our animals to be besotted with her and we felt secure and happy to leave them in her trustworthy care.I cannot recommend her highly enough, for her attention to detail and her natural love of animals.

Kate did a great job taking care of our home and pets while we were away. Not only do we have birds and reptiles and other critters to care for, our dog had been injured shortly before we left and needed to be given medication and have his bandage cleaned while he recovered.

He was born deaf and only knows hand signs and feels it necessary that he is doted on. Kate gave him a lot of attention and took everything in stride and everyone was well cared for. She was detail oriented, quick to contact us with any questions and kept us updated with how everything was going.

Our dog healed well in Kate’s meticulous care. When we arrived home, our bedding was cleaned and there was a homemade (delicious!) veggie lasagna in the fridge. It was such a welcome relief after an exhausting, 30 hour+ travel home. Our home offers some unique challenges, and Kate did a great job!

I travelled from Vancouver to Australia in October 2015 and a friend recommended Kate to me to stay in my condo to care for my dog. I was a little hesitant at first as my dog is high-strung and needs special care. Kate was wonderful – she truly loves animals and was an excellent care-giver.

She cared for my condo as if it were her own home and kept it clean and tidy. I really could go on and on about what a great person Kate is – very professional with a loving and gentle personality. I absolutely would not hesitate to have her look after my pet and home again.

It was wonderful to have Kate look after our home and pets while we were away. She is a lovely, caring person who we felt completely comfortable leaving our pets with and the care of our home. Kate is a vibrant and energetic person who looked after our incredibly energetic and bouncy dog and somewhat reserved cat for 5 days.

She was more than capable of handling our dog and took her on the necessary long walks as well as continuing her (our puppy’s) exposure to different and new things and events . Kate also got into the swing of French life in an instant and chattered to our French neighbours. She was clean and tidy with the bed sheets and towels in the wash on our return.
We were comfortable enough to give Kate the use of our car while she house sat.

Kate was a very pleasant and happy person who you can get on with in an instant. she is very conscientious about getting tasks done and done in a way that you would prefer. She is very helpful and made sure that we had anything we wanted ready for our return. She was very clean and tidy and beds and towels were stripped and in the wash when we returned. she even baked us a quiche. Your animals and house will be in safe hands with Kate.

Kate has become an excellent and most reliable house and pet sitter for us. I am a veterinarian and so my pets are often special needs, complicated emotionally and physically and Kate is very senstive to their needs.

When I travel, we have Kate house sit, and cat sit and we farm out our special needs dogs to various others (it is just too many for one person) and Kate has been fabulous at coordinating all the other people in our lives and adapting to changes as they happen.

The most wonderful thing for me was that Kate treated our home as her own, and got to know our neighbourhood and enjoyed the same treasures about it that we do!

I have known Kate as a chef with Bluewater Adventures and as a chef with a cat skiing organization. She has also volunteered with a non profit program that I run in Vancouver elementary schools. Kate has great attention to detail as she needs to plan to cook for large groups in remote places. As a volunteer, Kate was wonderful with children, a great help with the implementation of the program and a terrific role model for children. I highly recommend her to your organization.

My senior cats have some challenging issues but Kate has consistently given caring and competent care to them.

Kate has stayed at our house and taken care of our animals four or five times. Our two dogs and our cat are very happy when she arrives and settle right in with her. Since she is a chef, we know she takes good care of our knives and our kitchen equipment. She connects with people in our neighbourhood and enjoys her stay in our small community.
